The workshop
How a piece is made
Four steps, none of them hurried. It is why there is never much on the shelf at once.

The timber
Boards are chosen one at a time for grain and movement, then left to settle before anything is cut.

The design
The piece is drawn around the timber that is actually in the rack, rather than the other way round.

The bench
Cut, fitted and joined by hand. Joinery is meant to be seen, so it is cut to be worth seeing.

The finish
Sanded through the grits and oiled by hand, for a surface that can be used, marked and repaired.
The art studio
The other half of the bench
The studio is being set up now. Artwork will be listed here alongside the woodwork, made by the same people in the same workshop, held to the same standard and sold the same way: one piece, made once.
If there is something you would like to see come out of it, say so. The first pieces will go to the people who asked.
Two crafts, one workshop.
The workshop and the studio sit under the same roof and answer to the same standard. Whatever comes off either bench is made once, by hand, and listed here the same way. Other handmade work will join them as it is finished.
